2009 Victoria Bush Fire Relief

The Bushfires of Black Saturday, 07 February saw the start of the biggest disaster to impact the Australian Community.

173 souls perished in the fires. Some 7000+ displaced residents may be in temporary accommodation for about a year.

SydneyCare's response to this disaster was immediate. Food hampers were dispatched from the Wagga Cares depot and were being unpacked on Monday 09 February.

Within days, working with The Exodus Foundation (Rev Bill Crews) and Overseas Disaster Resources (Guy Chenery), SydneyCare dispatched via Roadmaster and Linfox 160+pallets food & china, new clothing, blankets and beds, commercial value $2.0+ m.

Further relief dispatches are sent as requested. Recently demountable buildings sourced by SydneyCare from Coates HIre were transported by Linfox and erected at Marysville for use as community buildings.
